Law Vs Ritualism – How is Righteousness Revealed?

It is very important to understand that Paul’s main opposition to his Teaching came from Religious Legalists.

It was the leaders of entrenched Religious Legalistic Belief Systems that were mainly threatened by Paul’s Revelation of Justification by Faith.

The same was true of Martin Luther in Germany during the Reformation.

Why would Religious people become extremely agitated by someone Teaching people How to Get Right with God?

We see this today with Cults like the Seventh Day Adventists and the Jehovah Witnesses.

Paul could not have made his argument for Justification by Faith any clearer than in his Epistle to the Roman Church.

Romans 3:21, AMP, “But now the Righteousness of God has been Revealed independently and altogether apart from the Law,”

In the modern context this is easier to understand if we paraphrase this as, ‘But now the Righteousness of God has been revealed independently and altogether apart from Ritualism,”

You don’t need to participate in any kind of Ritualism to get yourself Right with God, all you have to do is Believe in Jesus Christ.

Therefore the Ritual is now Pointless and void of meaning, hence the advocates of Ritualism can become very threatened.

Righteousness is now Revealed by Faith in Jesus Christ.
