Who Is The Good Samaritan?

Those who are caught up in Ritualism and Traditionalism and Self-Righteousness, have a difficult time with the Parable of the Good Samaritan because it totally exposes the hypocrisy of Spiritual Legalism.

In Luke Chapter 10 V25 , ESV, “An expert in the Mosaic Law stood up and asked Jesus a question to see what he would say.”

In the same way today, the Legalist tries to create an analogy out what Jesus is clearly Teaching in the Good Samaritan Parable, so as to confuse the actual message.

Luke 10:25 ESV cont, “Teacher’, he asked, ‘What must I do to have Eternal Life?’

This is essentially the question many Religious people are asking today, and are being told by Motivational Gurus, Meditation Specialists, Priests, and New Age Psychics to follow prescribed Rituals and Formulas.

Luke 10:26,27,28 ESV, “Jesus answered, What is written in the Scriptures? How do you understand them? The man replied, ‘The Scriptures say, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind.’ They also say, ‘Love your neighbours as much as you love yourself.’ Jesus said,’You have given the right answer. If you do this, you will have eternal life.’

Religious hypocrites think that Jesus was commending the man for doing the right thing, when actually he was exposing the reality the ‘expert’ in the Mosaic Law was not capable of loving his neighbour as himself, because the Grace of Jesus was not yet freely available.

Jesus was exposing the hypocrisy of the Mosaic Law ‘expert’.

Just as today the advocates of Mainstream Religious Ritualism, and the Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah Witnesses and a plethora of other cults, are all preaching a Formula based Legalism.

The purpose of the the Good Samaritan parable is to expose the false reasoning the followers of the various forms of Ritualism use to justify not helping the single mothers, homeless veterans and the poor and underprivileged.

Luke 10:29,30,31, 32 ESV, “But the man wanted to show that he knew what he was talking about. So he askec Jesus, ‘Who are my neighbours?’ Jesus replied: As a man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, robbers attacked him and grabbed everything he had. They beat him up and ran off, leaving him half dead. A Priest happened to be going down the same road. But when he saw the man, he walked by on the other side. Later a Temple Helper came to the same place. But when he saw the man who had been beaten up, he also went by on the other side.”

Religious Legalists will use any excuse not to help a Homeless Vet or Single Mother, because they feel that their quest for Sinless perfectionism will be somehow tainted by associating with those who have problems.

The Spiritual Hypocrites do not realise that they can only achieve their Religious Goals by helping those less fortunate, and not by just Playing Self Righteous Games.

This is why very few Mainstream Traditional Churches donate any funds to help the extremely important work of the Salvation Army.
