How to be Right with God

Some Believers think that the Way to be Right with God involves strictly following a set of Rituals or Ceremonies.

Other Religious people would say that following the Ten Commandments is the only way to be Right with God.

But, does anyone keep the Ten Commandments perfectly?

The Tenth Commandment, You Shall Not Covet, is impossible to keep without the help of the Holy Spirit.

The Apostle Paul describes a New Way to be Right with God apart from Religious Rules and Laws and Ceremonies in his Letter to the Roman Church.

Romans 3:21, AMP, “But now the Righteousness of God has been REVEALED independently and altogether apart from the Law,”

This new way of being Right with God has now been REVEALED apart from Religious Laws and Ceremonies.

You cannot RECEIVE this New Way of being Right with God, by participating in the Confessional, or by trying to strictly follow any form of Religious Ritual, or by Candle Ceremonies, Magic Mushroom Rites, Prayer Beads, or Transcendental Meditation Techniques.

Participating in endless Ceremonies in the Spiritual Olympics will not make you Right with God.

How do we Receive this New Way of Right Standing with God?

Paul clarifies this New Way by contrasting it with the Old Way.

Romans 3:22, AMP, “Namely, the Righteousness of God which comes by Believing with personal trust and confident reliance on Jesus Christ, the Messiah.”

The moment you exercise your Faith in Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you are immediately placed into Right Standing with God by Grace.

You no longer need to Confess your Sins to a Priest for absolution in the Confessional, because you have personal access to the Most High Himself, Jesus Christ our Lord.

If you make a mistake and Sin, you can directly ask Jesus Christ for forgiveness, and Plead the Blood of Jesus over your life.

Your Right Standing with God is not based upon how perfect you keep the Ten Commandments, or upon how disciplined you are at performing various Religious Ceremonies, but upon the Gift of Righteousness given to you by the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You did nothing to earn the Grace Gift of Right Standing with God from Jesus Christ, except to Believe it.

Notice that Paul did NOT say that Right Standing with God comes by following Rituals and Ceremonies.

The real function of Religious Laws is actually to make us aware of our Sins, so that we realise that we have need of our Saviour Jesus Christ.

However, this consciousness of Sin is not to be carried over into the Believers life, because we are not supposed to be feeling condemned by focusing on our Sins and weaknesses.

It’s because of this Sin Consciousness that some Believers seek relief in the Confessional, or try to absolve their Guilt in the Psychiatrist office.

We can declare that we are the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus by the Gift of Grace.
