Grace Vs The Law of Rituals

Paul in his Letter to the Turkish Believers in Galatia explained that trying to go back under the Law of Rituals will bring a Curse into your life.

Galatians 3:10, AMP, “And all who depend on the Law, who are seeking to be justified by obedience to the Law of Rituals, are under a Curse…”

Paul emphasises that dependence on the Law brings about a Curse.

Why does dependence on the Law bring about a Curse?

A failure to understand why dependence on the Law brings about the Curse is widespread both through Traditional Ritual based denominations, and in the Cults like Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, Christadelphians, and the SDA devotees of Ellen White.

The missing Key of understanding is that Paul is not saying that the Law Rituals of itself is a Curse, but that it is impossible to perfectly keep every aspect of the Law, and so therefore if we depend on the Law then at some stage we will make a mistake, and then suffer the penalty of breaking the Law.

This is the whole point of the Teaching of the Gospel of Grace by the Apostle Paul, revealing that Grace is available to us through Jesus Christ when we mess up.

Grace is the missing ingredient in the Religions of the world based on Karma.

Under Karma you get what you deserve, if bad things are happening to you then you must have been doing bad things.

Under Grace we don’t get what we deserve because of the Love of Jesus, and we are given Right Standing with God as a Gift.

Traditional Ritualism and the Cults, completely misinterpret what Paul is saying, and actually Preach the reverse of the message of Grace.

The misunderstanding comes from the last part of Galatians 3:10, AMP “Cursed be everyone who does not continue to abide by all the precepts and commands written in the Book of the Law and to practice them.

Some Cult leaders have misinterpreted this as saying that we have to do all of the Law as part of our Christian obligations, including strictly observing the Sabbath, and in the time of Paul even requiring Circumcision.

This idea is based on the false premise that Paul is warning us that if we don’t keep the Law then we are under a a curse, not realising that what Paul was actually saying is that dependence on the Law brings a Curse and that’s why we need Grace.

This is also exemplified by Jesus in Matthew 5 where He explains to the Jews the impossibly high standards of the Law, and how none of them are able to do it perfectly.

This Teaching of Jesus on the Law in Matthew Chapter 5 had also been misunderstood in the same way by Traditional Ritualism and also the Cults.

Jesus was laying the foundation of Revelation that He Himself was the only person capable of Keeping the Law perfectly, and that he would fulfil the Law.

It is incredible and laughable that the Cult leader Ellen White has been able to convince some Believers that Paul was encouraging us to go back under the Law of Rituals, but this has happened because of the lack of Revelation of the purpose of Grace.
