What is Credited to your Account?

In Paul’s Letter to the Turkish Believers in Galatia, he was continuously countering the Teaching of the Religious Legalists.

These Legalists were trying to convince the Believers that they needed to go back under the Mosaic Law in order to be Right With God.

Paul illustrates how Abraham became Right with God in Galatians 3:6, “Thus Abraham Believed in and adhered to and trusted in and relied on God, and it was reckoned and placed to his Account and Credited as Righteousness,” AMP

If you had just received a Statement from your Bank showing that someone had just Credited your Account with $1,000,000, what would you say?

It is not difficult to understand what Crediting your Account means.

Yet some Believers struggle to understand that Right Standing with God can be CREDITED to your Spiritual Account, as a result of your Faith in the Promises of God.

Paul was showing the Believers that Abraham had Righteousness Credited to his Account before God had even given the Law to Moses.

This destroyed the argument of the Judaisers, which was very similar to current day Seventh Day Adventists deception, that all Believers had to strictly observe the Sabbath Day to be Right with God.

Why does Right Standing with God matter?

Condemnation about whether we are accepted and loved by our Heavenly Father because of the past mistakes that we have made, is a major tactic of the enemy to prevent Believers from Receiving the Holy Spirit.

Right Standing with God has been CREDITED to our Spiritual Account by the Grace of Jesus Christ, and all we have to do is Believe it.

We do not earn Righteousness by accruing Grace Points by performing and participating in the Sacraments, as Righteousness has already been CREDITED to us.

Some Believers use the excuse, ‘I know that the Bible says that I am the Righteousness of God in Christ, but I don’t feel like it because I keep condemning myself over my personal failures.’

We all have personal failures and weaknesses, and we should not dwell on these past issues, but instead declare that we are Righteous by Faith.

Abraham continued to Believe in the Promises of God, despite his occasional failures to perform in a morally perfect manner.

Abraham did not say, ‘I’ve really blown it now, there is no way that God will accept me anymore, I’ve lost the Blessings of God, I may as well go back to worshiping Hollywood Idols like everyone else.’

Abraham continued to Believe in the Promises of God, because he knew that his Faith pleased God, and made him in Right Standing with God.

If we try to live our lives by what we feel about ourselves, instead of by Believing in what the Scripture clearly says we have Received by Grace, Right Standing With God, we will forfeit the Blessings of God.

The idea of earning Grace Points by participating in a Sacrament may give you temporary relief from feelings of condemnation, but nagging Self-Doubts will soon return.

You are the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus through Grace by Faith.
