Bittersweet Symphony Inspiration
The Verve’s Bitter Sweet Symphony contains some some gems of wisdom hidden in the cynicism and despair.
“Cause its a bittersweet symphony this life”
The Game of Life does have it’s ups and downs, and everyone experiences this rollercoaster. The Key to be inspired by this intense and wonderful song by The Verve is how do you respond to Life’s challenges, and specifically Can you change your life and not become bitter from your negative experiences.
“Trying to make ends meet, you’re a slave to the money then you die”
You can become a slave to money if you don’t learn how to control it, and make it work for you. You can either believe that Money controls you, or that you have the power to control money.
“I’ll take you dow the only road I’ve ever been down”
There is a sense of entitlement in many young people now, which in some ways comes from a fear of not being able to control our personal destiny. It is believed that there is only one road to go down, and that there isn’t another alternative path of self sufficiency, and that lack of money keeps you on this single path. Therefore some people are stuck in a rut where you need a Government handout just to make ends meet. This is not to say that Government assistance is not necessary, but that we should not become dependent on it and think that we are perpetually entitled to it forever.
“You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah”
You can get off the road of illicit drugs and all forms of addiction, including gambling, porn and alcohol. The emotional pain that are experiencing can be healed by a connection to the Grace of forgiveness if you realise that holding onto bitterness harms nobody but yourself.
If you think that there is No Light at the end of the tunnel, then your inner emotional turmoil will have no escape valve. The pain that you are hiding from others needs an outlet, or it will fester with the anger and disappointment of being treated unfairly.
As you decide to forgive that person who has done you wrong, you will find yourself open to the Love that will spring forth into your heart again. You can now forgive yourself for allowing that person to take advantage of you in the first place. Forgiveness brings the refreshing peace and joy that you have been seeking, and enables you to finally let it go.
“No change, I can’t change, I can’t change, I can’t change”
You may feel that you can’t change, that you are stuck, but you can always receive the change that the Grace of forgiveness will freely bring you if you ask for it.
